2020 Surgeon General's Report on Oral Health!
Exciting news ahead! There is a new Surgeon General's report in the works which is being lead by the NIH National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research. The very first report was made in 2000. This report will focus on how US dental health has improved over time and which areas we still need to work on. In addition, it's also meant to serve as a call to action for those of us who haven't been taking proper care of our own teeth, as it highlights the important effects of diligent oral hygiene. The report may touch upon some aspects of corporate dentistry as well, especially given the current concerns on federal dental insurance and treatment plans.
Additionally, this report is aimed at creating a potential vision for the future when it comes to dental health in the United States. Compiled using data from various sources, especially the HHS Department and the NIH, this report can also act as the perfect educational tool for those of us who want to learn more about the current state of dentistry in the US.
